About and privacy

Hourglyph is an open community project that helps you save Claude Code limits: it shows when developers around the world use Claude Code, so you can start work in off-peak hours. It is independent and not affiliated with Anthropic.

What is stored

Messages and tokens are added straight to hourly and per-country totals — no record is kept per event. A session start keeps a short record (time, UTC hour and weekday, source, country code) that is deleted after 30 days. Nothing else — no message or answer text, code, paths, project names, session or user identifiers.

How tokens are counted

The hook script reads the transcript on your machine (Claude Code passes its path to the hook), sums the usage fields of the last turn’s replies and sends only the four totals. The file itself never leaves your computer.

Country

The country code (e.g. DE) is determined by Supabase/Cloudflare’s network from the connection and passed in a request header. We keep only that code — not the IP, not the city. Behind a VPN, the VPN server’s country is recorded. Only per-day totals by country are public.

IP addresses

To prevent spam, the server limits events per network: up to 8 session starts and 30 messages or turns a minute, and the site’s button once per 10 minutes. IPv6 addresses count per /64 subnet. For that it keeps, for a few minutes, only a one-way hash of the address with a secret salt that rotates daily. The IP itself is never stored or linked to the data.

Public access

Raw rows are locked down by database access rules. Only aggregates are public — the heatmap and summary stats.

Opting out

Remove the hook from ~/.claude/settings.json — see setup.

Source code

The site, database schema and hook are open source: github.com/hourglyph/hourglyph.github.io. Questions and ideas are welcome as issues.
